Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, has repeatedly emphasized that the primary objective of launching the province’s regulated market on July 13 was to offer consumers safe alternatives to illicit offshore sites operating out of jurisdictions like Malta and Curaçao.

According to Entain, the consultation included data that demonstrated 22% of consumers who use unlicensed operators first interacted with them through social media, with 13% via sponsorship.
Therefore, Entain called for the ban to cover online and digital advertising as well as physical.
